Lisa Hickey

Lisa is a Senior Project Officer in the Queensland Department of Primary Industries Biosecurity Response Preparedness team. With over 22 years experience in biosecurity, Lisa started her career in the Plant biosecurity market access world, working in administrative roles before undertaking a nationally funded position of Executive Officer for the Domestic Certification Services Working Group. Since 2014 Lisa has worked on over 14 high profile biosecurity and disaster responses and preparedness projects including but not limited to, Panama TR4, White Spot Disease, FMD Preparedness Project and the African Swine Fever Prevention and Preparedness Project, the latter of which recently won an Australian Biosecurity Award in the Government Category. Lisa’s response experience extends across planning, coordination, systems, monitoring and logistics. In her current role, Lisa oversees the Biosecurity Queensland State Coordination Centre, develops and delivers response training and exercises as well as management and development of response resources such as documentation and IT systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness in biosecurity management. Lisa plays a key role in mentoring staff, providing guidance, and ensuring that teams are well-prepared for high-pressure response situations.
