In 2024 the NBRT Advisory Group convened to discuss and plan the NBRT professional development program for the coming tenure period. The three-year program will include an induction session for all new members, a professional development week in May each year, and a series of jurisdictional webinars. To enable members to practice what they have learned throughout their tenure, there will be a functional and discussion-based exercise in the final year of the program.

Travel costs associated with attending program activities including flights, accommodation travel and meal allowances are covered by the program.

To book required flights, accommodation or hire car, please complete the travel request form below. Meal and travel (taxi, public transport, parking etc) expenses can be claimed back following the activity using the expenses claim form below.

NBRT professional development week

This workshop is part of the broader NBRT professional development program for members. It aims to strengthen the preparedness of Australia's national biosecurity system by increasing member capability to lead incident management and functional teams within a biosecurity and/or incident response. Members can expect five days of workshops intended to provide them with an understanding of national response arrangements whilst developing the critical skills required to lead incident management and functional teams during a response. The workshop will cover a range of key topics, including team building, leadership, risk assessment, and managing stress and fatigue in high-pressure situations. Members will gain hands-on experience through site visits, practical activities and group discussions, while also benefiting from valuable insights shared by subject matter experts and past NBRT members during presentations and panel discussions. A more detailed program outline will be provided closer to the date.
